How long did you all wait before telling new friends or someone you are or were dating that you used to be a witness? How did they react? If you did tell them do they make jokes at you every so often about it 😊 is it best not to tell people?

Anyone watching Star Trek Discovery?
by Coded Logic inso i've been watching the show and really enjoying it.
great to see a trek tv series finally get a reasonable budget.
beautiful costumes, sets, cinematography, action pieces, etc.. really my only complaints are how cg all the ships look and there's a fair bit of stiff dialog from time to time.. what do you guys think of the show?.

The Constant Mindchatter After You Leave
by pale.emperor ini've been out almost 2 years now and consider myself wide awake to watchtower propaganda and well on my way to recovery from the mental abuse we've all experienced.. one thing that just will not go is that i constantly think of jwism and watchtower and get myself all annoyed at their lies and blatant twisting of facts in their broadcasts and magazines.
it's so bad that it's the first thing i think of when i wake up, then i have these mental arguments in my head proving the jw teachings false and then getting annoyed because no jw will listen even if you tried to tell them.
i call this constant thinking and mental reasoning and mental arguing "mindchatter".

There is lots of really good advice from people here that I'm going to try to put into practice. I distanced myself emotionally from so called jw friends the last few years before i left the cult so the shunning didn't bother me but certain what ifs still keep popping into my head. I guess in time that will stop and for now we all need to focus on enjoying our lives and spend as much time as possible with our friends and family and do positive things that make us happy and help us to grow as people

Scratchme1010 - I used 1919 on how could it have been chosen as clean organisation if it was rampant with unclean practices and teachings. Bit by bit I've managed to discuss other topics since then with some success and some massive debates. I've planted the seed now I'm leaving it to grow itself unless it wants watering more... by request of course.

Before i became a witness i loved fantasy and sci fi and true life kind of stories but I'm out of touch with what's come out In the last 15 years or so and I was wondering which books you guys might have enjoyed.

Freedom rocks
Its definitely a religion that is hard to get away from mentally. The carts are all over the place if you want to go out shopping or go on a train or a bus. Even people that have been out for 30+ years are still talking about the religion on this forum. I don't think it ever leaves us properly and we have to learn to just block it out and push it to the back of our minds and get on with life and enjoy it.
